The VERY BEST Bold, Easy Homemade Chili
Wintertime is especially perfect for homemade chili. What a warm comfort food to enjoy after stacking firewood, shoveling snow, or even ice fishing on your local lake! Serve with your favorite cornbread for a real tasty, filling, cold-weather meal.
My Badlands Chili Seasoning has a unique blend of spices and herbs that impart a special delicious flavor to your creation.
Ingredients
-
1 pound ground beef
-
1 cup low sodium beef broth
-
1 – 2 tablespoons Badlands Chili Seasoning
-
1 large can diced tomatoes
-
I can of pinto or kidney beans (optional)
-
½ small chopped onion
-
1 large hot or sweet pepper, diced
-
For variety, add shelled corn, cubed zucchini, sliced carrots, chopped sweet potaotes (yes!) or other veggies of your choice. Feel free to experiment!
Directions
-
Crumble the ground beef into a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook, stirring, until browned. Remove from heat, and drain grease from beef.
-
In a saucepan, combine the beef broth, diced tomatoes, beans (for richer flavor, do not drain the beans), Badlands Chili Seasoning and the diced pepper. (If you are adding extra vegetables, now is the time to add them, as well). Stir in the ground beef.
-
Simmer over medium-low heat for about 30 minutes stirring occasionally.
-
To serve, spoon into individual bowls and top each serving with shredded cheese, guacamole or sour cream.
